This is the Parisian composer's first full-length album under his own name. But his experience writing one-offs for elite ensembles shows in these pieces played by the TRANSIT group (with Wohl manning the electronics). Check how the writing for strings on "Neighborhood" merges perfectly with the digital arpeggio pulses. Elsewhere, the glitchy "Insext" dances even closer to the techno line. Acoustic players have standout moments too, as on the bass-clarinet-driven "Plus ou moins." Many young composers use textures and rhythms borrowed from electronic music, but few do it as well as Wohl.
