Jay Sean has a processed vulnerability. His voice is warm and innocent, but his pleads for sex, love and respect are filtered through Auto-Tune, then echoed and doubled to make him sound distant, schizophrenic and fractured. When he nestles atop the production's cookie-cutter populism, from the sweet R&B of "Do You" to the reticent fuzz of "Do You Remember" and the bobbing "If I Ain't Got You," he sounds like a cog, a cooing synth squirming among canned drums and plodding piano melodies. It masks the man, but it sounds great and makes for an enjoyable pop album.
