After two pleasant but unmemorable albums of folky adult contemporary, sister act the Pierces moved to New York, figured out how hot they were, and released a third album reflecting just that. Thirteen Tales hangs on to the winsome folkiness of the first two albums, but turns it dark, circus-y, seductive. Nothing is quite as spellbinding as "Boring," their snarky, sexy, hotter-than-the-Hilton-sisters parody of socialites (and even that loses something without the stalker-inducing video. Seriously. Check that out. Now.). But the album is as pretty and alluring as the Pierces themselves.
